Presentation of the results of the “Study of the attitude of the population of Ukraine to discriminatory on the basis of gender advertising”

On December 24, 2021, the National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic” hosted a presentation of the results of the “Study of the attitude of the population of Ukraine to discriminatory sex”, conducted by the Ukrainian Marketing Association in February-May 2021

The presentation of the results of the research was moderated by Anna Verbytska, Head of the Department of Marketing, PR-Technologies and Logistics of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University.

Olha Melnyk, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Educational Work of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Tetyana Zabashtanska, Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing, PR-Technologies and Logistics, Representative of the Chernihiv Regional Office of the Industrial Gender Committee for Advertising, presented the key results of the “Study of the Attitude of the Population of Ukraine to Discriminatory Gender Advertising”. The conclusions are based on an all-Ukrainian representative survey of 2,410 respondents / current and the results of three experiments, including one using eye-tracker technology.

Among the invited participants of the presentation: Yuliia Darnytska, Director of the Regional Development Agency; Yaroslava Susla, director of the Tourist Information Center of the Chernihiv City Council; Anna Bass, General Director of PJSC “Berehynia”, specialists of the Main Department of the State Food and Consumer Service in Chernihiv region; Olha Brediuk, acting Head of the Department of Economics, Intellectual Property, Marketing of Innovations and Organization of Scientific Training of the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology and Agro-Industrial Production of NAAS, representatives of Zelenbud; SendPulse; Silpo-FOOD LLC; Coral Travel Travel Agency; NGO “Chernihiv European”; research and teaching staff of the Department of Marketing, PR-technologies and logistics, graduates of the specialty 075 “Marketing”.

The results of the “Survey of the Attitude of the Population of Ukraine to Discriminatory Gender Advertising” provoked a lively discussion among stakeholders.

In particular, Yulia Darnytska, director of the Regional Development Agency, deputy of the Chernihiv City Council, called on market participants to be responsible with advertising content and consumers not to be indifferent in cases of discriminatory advertising and to complain to the Chernihiv Regional Office of the Industrial Gender Committee.

Yaroslava Susla, director of the Tourist Information Center of the Chernihiv City Council, reminded the audience of the new requirements of the Concept of exterior facades of public buildings in Chernihiv and examples of unacceptable placement of advertising structures, especially given the report.

Valentyna Ihnatenko, Chief Specialist of the Sector for Control of Advertising, Anti-Tobacco and Compliance Legislation of the Main Department of the State Food and Consumer Service in Chernihiv Oblast, gave examples of discriminatory advertising over the past 5 years and cases to combat such cases, including fines.
